Dear Friends of Obidimma Olga Ibiminna Okobi
On the third of April it will be seven years since our dear Obi left to be with God. As a way to keep Obi’s memory alive, we set up the Obidimma Okobi Foundation, dedicated to fostering youth empowerment and educational growth to broaden the horizons of children, particularly in the New Haven and Baltimore communities that Obi loved so much and to which she dedicated her work.
The foundation has implemented two programs in her honor designed to keep her memory alive:
I Obidimma Olga ibimina Okobi ‘94 Imagining Life annual event
The Imaging Life event takes place in January near Obi’s birthday; the most recent took place on January 21, 2024. . The required $50,000 has been fully subscribed and will be a lasting memorial to Obi’s life and to the importance Miss Porter’s School played in her education and professional career. Obi had been asked to join the Board of Trustees and she spoke with great excitement and pride of her anticipated service.
The purpose of the event, Obidimma Olga ibimina Okobi ‘94 Imagining Life annual event, is to create meaningful dialog between the senior class and alumni of Miss Porter’s School about the challenges and rewards of adulthood, and how the school prepares students to “shape a changing world.”
II Obidimma Okobi Memorial Endowment Scholarship Endowment. Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven. August 2023
To honor Obi’s passion for and dedication to improving the lives and educational experiences of children and peers, the Obidimma Okobi Memorial Foundation is establishing a scholarship to support students in the elementary education program at Southern Connecticut State University.
The Foundation has made a commitment of $25,00 which is the minimum required to establish an endowment at Southern Connecticut State University. This endowed scholarship called Obidimma Okobi Memorial Endowed Scholarship.
The Foundation is now focused on activities geared towards raising the $25,000 . We are involved in Fundraising in person, as well as virtually. We have set up a GoFundMe program to help raise the needed funds. We hope you will join us by donating to the scholarship and help us reach our goal
